HISTORY AND FIT-OUT

The mp6 offered for sale was originally an owner-occupier development by Victoria-Versicherung in the summer of 1999, making it one of the newer buildings on the MediaPark in its vicinity. Back in 1987, an urban development ideas competition was held for the 200,000 sq m former Gereon rail freight depot, which was revitalised as today‘s MediaPark site ins Leben gerufen. Ziel war es, einen neuen Stadtteil fokussiert auf Medienunternehmen zu schaffen, um den Medienstandort Köln weiter voranzubringen. Diese Idee ist inzwischen längst erfolgreich umgesetzt und stetig weiterentwickelt worden. So gibt es heute neben zahlreichen Medienunternehmen einen attractive sector mix of IT, culture, education, medicine, research, restaurants, retail and business. In accordance with the implementation concept, the site was divided into 13 individual plots and sold separately. The first building, the “Cinedom” multiplex cinema was completed in 1991 and, in 2001, the “Kölnturm”, the Mediapark’s landmark tower, opened its doors. The most recent completion on the MediaPark was the “Forum” in 2003.
